Land Interest and Permits Notice
In response to recent feedback received from the Community, the Lands and Environment Department will be committing to providing monthly updates on all the Land Interest and Development related permits being requested through the Department. These requests are reviewed by the Department to ensure compliance with the Land Code and other Malahat Nation policies and procedures and then presented to Chief and Council for approval. Provincial Private Moorage Moratorium
A Provincial private moorage moratorium has been in place since 2021 within the waterways south of Gabriola, down past the Gulf Islands and onto the west side of the W̱SÁNEĆ peninsula. This moratorium restricts private landowners from installing new moorages, including docks, boat ramps, and boat lifts. The moratorium is set to expire in August 2025.
